V R Prabodhachandran Nair to receive S Guptan Nair Foundation award
Thiruvananthapuram: Educator and linguist V R Prabodhachandran Nair has been selected for S Guptan Nair Foundation award for 2026. The award carries a purse of Rs 25,000, a citation and a badge of honour.A jury led by Travancore Devaswom Board president K Jayakumar selected Prabodhachandran, former head of linguistics, Kerala University. He is a recipient of the President's medal and authored several books and composed around 600 classical songs. Prabodhachandran is regarded as the pioneer in the phonology of the Malayalam language. Apart from phonology, he is also interested in syntax and stylistics. The recipients of the award in previous years were M Leelavathi, Sukumar Azhikode, ONV Kurup, Panmana Ramachandran Nair, M K Sanu, Chathanathu Achuthanunni and S K Vasanthan. The award would be presented at a function in Thiruvananthapuram on Feb 6, trust secretary M G Sasi Bhooshan and treasurer S P Harikumar said.
