T'puram: Police are examining call records to uncover the drug dealings of Anila Ravindran, 34, of Kollam, who was arrested last week for smuggling MDMA hidden in her private parts and car. The investigation is being conducted with the help of cyber division.
Meanwhile, Kollam city police have sought her custody.
Police plan to interrogate her thoroughly to identify other members involved in the drug network. It was found that Anila brought the MDMA from Bengaluru to handover it to a distributor in Kollam. The case is being investigated under the supervision of Kollam city police commissioner Kiran Narayanan, with ACP S Shareef and his team leading the probe.
Police arrested Anila near Neendakara Bridge last week. She was caught in a daring operation by Kottiyam police and district anti-narcotic special action force (Dansaf) while she was travelling to Kollam in a Karnataka-registered car.
Police received a tip-off about her drug dealings.
The woman's car caught the attention of police and was asked to stop, but she did not comply. Following this, police chased the car and intercepted it to arrest her.
Inside a black-taped plastic cover in her handbag on the front seat, 36.86g of MDMA were found.
However, a larger quantity of MDMA was concealed on her body. After questioning, when she was presented for a medical examination, an additional 40.17g of MDMA was discovered wrapped in a cover in her private area.
Police said, it was later found that the car Anila was travelling in was her friend's.
