‘Poisonous creations’: CM Pinarayi Vijayan says ‘The Kerala Story 2’ aims to spread hatred against state
T'PURAM: CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that a second part of the film 'The Kerala Story'-produced with the aim of sowing hatred against Kerala and insulting state's secular traditions-which is being released must be viewed with great seriousness.
"Our state already recognized that the first part, filled with blatant lies, hatred and anti-Kerala propaganda, was manufactured with a communal agenda. We rejected that distorted creation, which donned the mantle of 'art', by proclaiming the truth of 'The Real Kerala Story'. Those behind these continuous hate campaigns are people who fear the model Kerala sets by upholding brotherhood and secularism," CM said. It was Sangh Parivar centres that took up and propagated the ridiculous, fake narrative of 'The Kerala Story', he added.
"They are the ones who give a communal tint to even consensual marriages, labelling them as forced conversions and spreading misinformation. These forces, attempting to poison peace of our land, are enemies of our society," he said.
It is astonishing how these "poisonous creations" receive permission for screening, he added. "We must unitedly reject these attempts to portray Kerala as a centre of terrorism. It is the responsibility of each one of us to prove that Kerala's secular foundation will not be shattered by fake propaganda," CM added.
In a post on social media platform X, Vijayan said, having seen through the alleged communal agenda and blatant lies in the first part, "Kerala will once again reject this attempt to demonise our secular fabric with contempt."
He added, "It is shocking how fabricated narratives aimed at inciting communal discord receive a free pass, while critical expressions of art get gagged. We must stand united against these attempts to paint our land of harmony as a hub of terror. The truth shall always prevail."
Directed by Kamakhya Narayan Singh, the teaser of 'Kerala Story 2: Goes Beyond', was released recently.
The first film, 'The Kerala Story', won awards for Best Direction and Best Cinematography at the 71st National Film Awards.
