Pedestrian killed after hit by speeding bike at Kaliyikkavila

Thiruvananthapuram: A 66-year-old pedestrian was killed after he was hit by a speeding bike at Kaliyikkavila on Wednesday night.The deceased Shahul Hameed of Parasalla was walking along the road with his grandson when the incident occurred around 10.30pm. Locals rushed him to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead. Parassala police examined CCTV footage from the area and later arrested the youth who allegedly rode the bike and fled the scene without stopping after the accident. Further legal proceedings are under way. Police said the bike struck Hameed at high speed, causing him to fall and sustain critical injuries. The body was handed over to relatives after a postmortem examination at medical college hospital. Hameed leaves behind wife Bivi Jahan and children Seyyadali, Shermita and Shabana.
