Lifetime award for Majid Majidi
Thiruvananthapuram: Renowned Iranian film director, producer and screenwriter Majid Majidi has been chosen for the ‘Lifetime Achievement’ award that would be presented to him during the 23rd International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will present the award to the veteran filmmaker at the inaugural ceremony of the fete to be held at Nishagandhi Auditorium on Friday. Majidi is also the jury chairman at the latest edition of the IFFK.
In his career in filmdom spanning over 25 years, Majidi rose to international acclaim with his critically lauded movies including, ‘Children of Heaven’ (1997), ‘The Color of Paradise’ (1999) and ‘The Song of Sparrows’ (2008), which were screened at the 20th edition of the festival.
A total of 34 films, including the inaugural film, ‘Everybody Knows’, will be screened on the first day. The seven-day festival, which concludes on December 13, will feature over 450 screenings of around 160 films in 13 theatres. Nishagandhi Auditorium will host 17 films, including the inaugural film and the midnight-screening of ‘Tumbbad’.
