Clean Kerala’s peppy anthem to aid waste segregation drive
Thiruvananthapuram: In a renewed effort to combat waste pollution and promote responsible disposal practices, Kerala solid waste management project (KSWMP) unveiled its ‘Clean Kerala Anthem', a high-energy musical campaign aimed at inspiring behavioural change across the state.General education minister V Sivankutty officially released the anthem and its video at a function at Nishagandhi Auditorium. KSWMP project director Divya S Iyer attended the event, along with senior officials and stakeholders.
Conceived as a creative outreach initiative, the anthem blends hip-hop and rap elements with vibrant dance visuals to appeal especially to younger audiences. Built around the slogan "My Waste, My Responsibility; My Kerala, My Pride", the track underscores the message that waste management begins at home and that indiscriminate dumping in public spaces should be socially unacceptable.Officials said the campaign seeks to redefine cleanliness as a shared civic duty. The song encourages households to segregate plastic and organic waste at source and ensure timely handover to Haritha Karma Sena, state's green task force engaged in door-to-door waste collection. By presenting segregation as a modern and responsible lifestyle choice, the initiative aims to normalise sustainable practices among citizens. The anthem was produced by Bworld Corporate Solutions and will be promoted aggressively through digital platforms to maximise outreach. Campaign elements include Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and interactive social media dance challenges designed to enhance youth participation. The track was also made available on major music streaming platforms, including Spotify, to widen its reach.Through the initiative, KSWMP and state govt hope to strengthen public engagement in sanitation efforts and foster a culture of environmental responsibility. The campaign envisions transforming the idea of a "Beautiful, Waste-Free Kerala" from a policy objective into a people's movement driven by everyday action. The launch assumes significance as KSWMP plans to roll out advanced waste treatment plants and modern processing facilities across Kerala. While infrastructure development remains a priority, authorities emphasised that the effectiveness of these systems hinges on public cooperation in proper waste segregation.
