Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurates Sathyan Nagar–Mudavanmugal bridge

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday said continuity in governance enabled Kerala to achieve unprecedented development, citing major infrastructure projects completed in recent years. He was speaking after inaugurating the Sathyan Nagar–Mudavanmugal bridge in Thiruvananthapuram.The bridge, which ends a 62-year wait for residents of the area, connects Estate ward with Mudavanmugal ward and is expected to significantly ease local connectivity. The project was completed at a cost of Rs 13 crore. The Sathyan Nagar–Mudavanmugal bridge has a length of 26.9m and a total width of 13m.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister said the recently inaugurated Perumbalam bridge in Alappuzha, whose construction began in 2016 and completed in 2026, provides a long-awaited connection for residents of the island to the mainland. The minister also cited the reconstruction of Alappuzha–Changanassery Road, which previously used to be submerged during heavy rains as the govt's achievement. Another major initiative highlighted was the construction of a tetrapod sea wall in Chellanam, which helped protect coastal homes from severe flooding during the monsoon season. "These kinds of major infrastructure projects could be realised because of continuity in governance," the minister said. He added that the state govt set a target of completing 100 bridges after assuming office in 2021 and achieved the goal within three years.
