thiruvananthapuram: veteran malayalam cine actor thilakan will be honoured for his contribution to cinema. the jury for annual asianet film award said here on friday that the award carries a citation and rs 50,000 cash. thilakan, who served in the army in his youth for a short while, worked in theatres for over three decades before moving in to cinema.
he has been acclaimed as one of the most talented actors who could put life into any role he donned. the jury of the asianet-lux award chaired by noted director hariharan has also chosen six cine technicians for technical segment award. venugopal, binapaul, gangan thalavil, krishnanunni, p.v. shanker and salim, pularvettom are the six winners in this category. for a change, asianet television has decided to follow oscar model award system this year for various other categories of artistes. accordingly, films recommended by the viewers from those released in 2001, are shortlisted and final announcement made live on stage at a function in kochi on march 1, anasianet spokesman said.
