THANE: The Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) has resurfaced the road at Manpada junction near the upcoming flyover that was in poor condition after a few showers of rains.
The action comes after Thane Plus in its edition dated June 17 had reported about the terrible condition of the Ghodbunder Road right after a few showers which badly affected daily commuters.
Following the report, the authorities have taken immediate action and have provided a pothole-free road on that particular stretch.
"Due to the bad condition of the road, the vehicles used to halt at this junction thus creating a major traffic problem. The road has already become narrow because of the ongoing flyover project. Also, the proposed service road work is still not completed despite a major demolition drive that took place in the last week of May. The recent repair and resurfacing have brought some respite to irked motorists.
A daily commuter Uday Dongre said, "Riding at this junction is now much better than before. I am glad that the resurfacing work has been done. Previously, I used to take lot of time to pass from the junction and not just me but even other commuters faced the same problem."
The filling of potholes near Manpada junction is not only benefitting motorists but also bystanders waiting for autos and buses.
Speeding vehicles used to splash water accumulated in the potholes on bystanders. However, now the situation seems to have eased with the TMC's immediate action.
Another commuter opined, "I wish the TMC resurfaces the remaining roads that create major traffic jams in the city. This move has brought respite to several commuters like me."
