SURAT: In an alarming incident of unruly behaviour by a woman passenger in the Surat BRTS bus service, a bus driver was allegedly assaulted on duty on Saturday for not stopping the bus midway the day before.
The incident occurred on a BRTS bus travelling on the Someshwara to Surat Railway Station route.
The entire incident was captured on the CCTV cameras installed inside the bus, clearly showing the woman’s aggressive conduct.
According to details, when the bus reached a stop near J H Ambani School, a burqa-clad woman approached the driver’s cabin. She allegedly grabbed the driver by the collar and questioned him for not stopping the bus the day before at a location.
During the altercation, she reportedly struck the driver on the head with the mobile phone she was holding.
According to the details shared with police, the driver alleged that on Friday the woman passenger asked the driver to stop the bus midway.
The driver reportedly informed her that there was no designated stop at that point and that the bus could not be halted there. This response allegedly enraged the woman, and she returned the next day to attack the driver.
The driver sustained a head injury and began bleeding.
