HP DCs, SPs to meet public twice a week
Shimla: All deputy commissioners (DCs) as well as superintendents of police (SPs) in Himachal Pradesh will now have to listen to the public grievances twice a week — Monday and Thursday — in their offices.
The state govt’s administrative reforms department has issued a notification in this regard on chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu’s directions. If Monday or Thursday happens to be a public holiday, the DCs will attend to their duties on the next working day. Emphasising the need for timely resolution of public issues to avoid unnecessary delay in solving their grievances, the chief minister had earlier issued these directions during the DC-SP's conference held in Shimla on Nov 7 and 8.
The state government has also launched the ‘Sarkar Gaon Ke Dwar’ initiative, under which ministers will also visit the rural areas to listen to and resolve issues of the citizens.
