Shillong: To maintain peace and tranquility along the India-Bangladesh border, a battalion commandant-level meeting was held on Monday between the Border Security Force (BSF) and the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) to discuss issues related to enhancing border domination and vigilance, a release from the
BSF said on Tuesday.
Meghalaya shares a 444-km stretch of the international border with the neighbouring country.
“Additionally, simultaneous patrolling systems were coordinated, especially in vulnerable areas. All these measures are going to impact border domination,” a statement issued by the Meghalaya Frontier headquarters of the BSF said.
BSF personnel on Monday seized 19 Bangladeshi wooden boats from the Jadukata river near Ghumaghat while smugglers were attempting to cross into Indian territory, the official release said.
