Bangladeshi tout held in Meghalaya

Shillong: The BSF has apprehended a tout from Bangladesh near the international border in East Khasi Hills district for facilitating cross-border smuggling, reports Manosh Das. He has been identified as Mohammad Mijan Mia, 49, a resident of Sunamganj district in Bangladesh.“Acting on specific info, troops of 193 Bn BSF Meghalaya in a joint operation with local police apprehended the Bangladeshi smuggler from the jungle area near the international border on Saturday. During initial questioning, the apprehended individual disclosed that he has been operating as a tout, facilitating the illegal entry of Bangladeshi nationals into India and engaging in smuggling activities,” the BSF on Sunday said, adding that he has been handed over to Dangar police station.

Agro company director apprehended for swindling co-director

Amit Goyal, the director of an agro company, was arrested for allegedly defrauding his co-director Anilkumar Chaturgun Maurya of Rs 3.10 crore. He fled to Dubai and was apprehended at Delhi Airport. Police charged him under IPC sections 406 and 420 for criminal breach of trust and cheating, following a look out circular issued against him.

Exotic animals rescued from smuggling at Turkish-Greek border

Turkish customs officials intercepted a vehicle in Edirne, on the Greek border, illegally transporting various exotic animals from Greece. The sedan, with Greek plates, contained three kangaroos, three alpacas, one Patagonian mara, 12 parrots, and 23 flying squirrels. After the driver was detained, the Directorate of Nature Conservation and National Parks took the animals for care.
