Salem man files 200th nomination to remain unchallenged in defeat

DHARMAPURI: Ever heard of one who contests elections just to get the tag of the most unsuccessful candidate? If not, you will find one such person in K Padmarajan, a native of

Mettur

in Salem. Popularly known as ‘Election King’ in local circles, he filed his 200th nomination in Dharmapuri constituency on Tuesday just to repeat his track record of failures.

K Padmarajan is the first one to file nomination almost in every election. And winning isn’t his agenda. Instead, his goal is to set the new Guinness Record in ‘most unsuccessful candidate and most election contested’ categories.

On Tuesday, he came to the Dharmapuri collectorate with his son Sreejesh Padmarajan around 9am and waited in front of the collector chamber until 10am to be the first person to receive the application. Later, he submitted the filled in application to the district collector cum district election officer S Malarvizhi.

Talking to the media, Padmarajan said he was filing nomination for the 200th time to contest the

general

elections. “By doing so, I am trying to make it and loud and clear that anyone could contest any election,” he told reporters.
