Woman Arrested for Killing 87-Year-Old Mother-in-Law in Bharno: A Tragic Case of Poverty and Desperation

Gumla: Police on Thursday arrested a woman for killing her 87-year-old mother-in-law at Sukurhutu village in Bharno. The accused was forwarded to jail. The accused, identified as Rani Oraon, fatally hit her octogenarian mother-in-law Hana Oraon after making her drink urea. Rani has confessed to her crime, police said. Officer in-charge of Bharno police station Kanchan Prajapati said, “Since the accused has a two and a half year old baby girl, police allowed her to keep the child while sending to jail.” Police said that the accused killed the elderly due to her inability to take care of her due to reeling poverty and problems in raising her four kids.
