Vedanta ESL Steel Plant Bokaro: Labour Concerns Resolved, Protest Postponed
Bokaro: To resolve long-standing labour concerns at Vedanta ESL Steel Plant in Chandankyari of Bokaro district, a crucial meeting chaired by DC Ajay Nath Jha led to several decisions on workforce restructuring, new job categories and benefits, resulting in the postponement of the proposed protest by 102 workers on April 21.The DC on Thursday said that the meeting, also attended by Chandankyari MLA Umakant Rajak, company deputy CEO Ravi Sharma, and worker representatives, saw detailed discussions on restructuring employment categories and service conditions.“It was unanimously decided that the workforce will now be divided into two categories, payroll workers and Business Partner Workers (BPW), with a new BPW-R category for raiyats (land owners). This category will include the 102 affected workers along with around 2,300 existing raiyat workers already engaged in the plant," he said.
