Tata Steel golf tournament to kick off today

Jamshedpur: The keenly awaited annual golf tourney of the Steel City is all set to kick off on Thursday. The four-day Tata Open golf tournament will conclude on Dec 28. Being organized by Tata Steel and the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), the tournament will be hosted at Beldih and Golmuri golf courses, officials said on Wednesday.

The event offers a prize purse of Rs 2 crore and constitutes the last leg of the 2025 PGTI season.


With a field of 126 professionals, the championship will be played in the stroke-play format consisting of four rounds of 18 holes each. The top 50 players and ties will make the cut after two rounds.

“The return of the PGTI tournament to Jamshedpur this year once again reflects our enduring support for golf and our commitment to offering a platform for emerging and established talent,” said D B Sundara Ramam, vice president, (corporate services) Tata Steel.

Incidentally, the tournament reverts to its original identity as the Tata Open, a title last used in 2018, after being organised as the Tata Steel Tour Championship between 2019 and 2024.

Notably, Tata Open is one of those rare events in the world which is played across two venues.
