The exhibited projects encompassed a wide array of daily life-related models, including devices to prevent deaths from road accidents due to delayed ambulance services, measures to prevent coal theft, a double-decker chulha (stove), a wall painting machine, mini mobile towers for safety, a door with a backside slider to cover the gap between the floor and the door, an emergency escape window ladder, smart expiration date reminders for food items, mind-controlled wheelchairs and automatic in and out reports of students in a class.
The competition's ultimate goal is to inspire one million original ideas and innovations with scientific and societal applications fostering a culture of creativity and innovative thought among school children.
Nodal officer of Inspire Award, Aparna Tiwari, said, “The funds for the Inspire Award were disbursed in December, marking the initiation of the programme where students contribute their ideas. Once the jury selects an idea, students receive Rs 10,000 for creating each model. The Indian government introduced the Inspire Award standard to nurture creativity in students. The selected students will now have the opportunity to compete at the national level.”
In the current 2022-23 session, Jharkhand has achieved the sixth position nationwide in terms of idea submissions under the Inspire Award standard.
A total of 40,833 students from Jharkhand submitted their ideas this year. Despite this achievement, the state falls slightly short of the set target, as the education department aimed for 45,000 registrations.
