State govt nod to start PG courses in MMCH

Daltonganj: State govt has given permission to start postgraduate courses in Medinirai Medical College and Hospital (MMCH) in Palamu district’s Daltonganj.College principal Dr J Srinivas Rao on Monday said, “We have been asked to begin postgraduate teaching. We have identified five departments — anatomy, biochemistry, pathology, ophthalmology and medicine — at present. Each department will have four PG seats.”He added, “Under the regulations of National Medical Commission, no postgraduate course can be started in a department where there is no professor. In these five departments, we have one professor each.”MMCH falls under Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU). Rao said, “We have sent letter to the university authorities for their consent to affiliation to start postgraduate teaching.”NPU vice-chancellor D K Singh said that they are working to accord consent for affiliation in a couple of days.
