Retail outlet in city fined for selling expired food items
Ranchi: A retail outlet in Harmu Bypass Road was penalised Rs 10,000 after for allegedly selling expired food items. The matter came to light after a team from the Ranchi Municipal Corporation (RMC) conducted a surprise inspection at the outlet.
The civic body’s food inspection team conducted a surprise check at Daily Mart and detected items that crossed their validity period. The products were immediately seized and removed from shelves to prevent sale to consumers.
Officials said the action was part of routine food safety enforcement across the city. The store management was directed to maintain stricter inventory checks and ensure goods on sale meet prescribed food safety standards. “Inspections will continue and action will be taken against violators,” RMC said.
