Republic Day Security Tightened in Jharkhand: What Measures Are in Place to Ensure Safety?
Ranchi: Vigil has been intensified across the state, including public installations, airports and railway stations, to prevent any untoward incident during the Republic Day celebration on Monday.Inspector General (Operations) Michael Raj said, “A general alert has been sounded. Jharkhand Police would ensure peaceful celebrations.”

SP (City) Paras Rana said, “Ranchi police are carrying out checks of hotels and lodges since Saturday and verifying background of visitors.”Around 1,200 personnel would be deployed. The focus area is the Morhabadi ground, where Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar would unfurl the Tricolour. Visitors would be checked with doorframe and hand-held metal detectors. Anti-sabotage checks would be conducted with sniffer dogs at main stage and areas for VVIPs, invited guests, spectators, vehicle parking, and other sensitive places, the district administration said.A control centre has been set up at Morhabadi ground, where police personnel with anti-riot ‘vraj’ vahan, water cannon, fire extinguisher vehicles, tear gas unit, bomb disposal squad and wireless sets would be posted.
Patrolling would be carried out around the venue. Plain-clothed police personnel would also be deployed along the route of the Governor and the main stage.An official and police force would be stationed at important places in the city, including Booty More, Bariatu Chowk, Piska More, Birsa Chowk, Rajendra Chowk, Overbridge, Saheed Chowk, Radium Chowk, in front of the SSP Office, Administrative Building and Karbala Chowk.Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials said top priority is being given to passengers’ safety. Vigil is being kept through closed-circuit television cameras. An adequate number of personnel was deployed for safe and smooth travel of passengers.The RPF appealed to passengers to inform either the railway employees, the RPF, or the govt rail police, if they find suspicious persons, articles or movement at the railway station premises.
