Ranchi Civic Election Results: Transport Nagar Celebrates Victories with Festive Zeal

Ranchi: What began as a tense morning outside the Transport Nagar counting centre soon transformed into a lively, almost carnival-like atmosphere as trends turned into victories on Friday. Barricades separated supporters from the main gate, but that did little to dampen their enthusiasm.

By afternoon, the area resembled a bustling mini-city, with hundreds gathering to catch every update.


Around 400 police personnel remained deployed, monitoring the swelling crowd and ensuring that celebrations stayed peaceful. District officials kept a close watch on proceedings inside, while outside, supporters discussed numbers, refreshed live updates on their phones, and speculated on final margins.

As results were declared ward by ward, cheers erupted from different corners. Supporters of winning candidates broke into dance, beating drums and smearing each other with colours in what looked like a pre-Holi celebration. Those whose candidates trailed maintained composure, expressing hope for a stronger comeback next time. Among the early celebrations, Ward 1 councillor-elect Nakul Tirkey thanked voters for their trust.

“This victory belongs to the people of my ward. I am grateful for their faith and will work with full dedication,” he said.

In another corner, supporters of Ward 19 councillor-elect Geeta Kumari celebrated her win with festive zeal, playing music and distributing sweets. Meanwhile, Ward 2 winner Savita Kacchap secured victory with 3,522 votes, prompting loud cheers and garlanding by jubilant supporters.

Throughout the day, Transport Nagar turned into a vibrant tableau of democracy in action, with hopeful faces, drumbeats in the background, and colours in the air reflecting both the intensity and joy of the civic electoral process.
