Ranchi: A 26-year-old alleged cybercriminal was arrested by the CID from Uttar Pradesh on Saturday in connection with fraud amounting to Rs 8.52 crore by promising high profits from forex trading.
CID on Sunday stated that the accused, Brajesh Singh, was apprehended with the help of UP police from Mirzapur.
A mobile phone, SIM card, credit card and a cheque book were seized from him.
The CID stated that the victim was added to a WhatsApp group in the name of forex trading and persuaded to invest in various bank accounts. After realising he had been defrauded, the victim registered a case on March 10.
