Poor performance alert: Ranchi DC warns underperforming booth officers; Strict actions promised to ensure voter registration accuracy
Ranchi: Deputy commissioner (DC)-cum-district electoral officer (DEO) Manjunath Bhajantri on Wednesday warned that booth level officers showing poor performance in ongoing pre-special intensive revision (SIR) work would face action. Notably, more than 3,000 BLOs have been engaged for the SIR work in Ranchi district.
During a review meeting, Bhajantri directed the electoral registration officers (EROs) to issue notices to underperforming BLOs. He also asked the district education officer and district education superintendent to ensure transfer from the city of teachers serving as BLOs who were not reporting to the electoral registration officers concerned.
On absenteeism on health grounds, Bhajantri ordered formation of a district-level medical board to identify veracity of the claims.
The district has seven assembly constituencies namely Tamar, Silli, Khijri, Ranchi, Hatia, Kanke and Mandar. He directed officials to complete mapping of remaining voters in a time-bound manner.
He said, “Accuracy of the electoral roll is top priority. BLOs must carry out door-to-door verification so that no eligible voter is left out. Deletion of names must be done as per the norms.”
