Police Seize 39.5 kg of Ganja and Arrest Two Smugglers in Hazaribag

Hazaribag: In a major breakthrough, police recovered 39.5 kg of ganja from a car and arrested two smugglers during a vehicle checking drive in Barkatha block in Hazaribag on Thursday night. Addressing a press conference at Barkatha police station on Friday, Barhi SDPO Ajit Kumar Vimal said, “Police received information about a car transporting ganja towards Uttar Pradesh. During vehicle checking at Barhi, the car sped away towards Dhanbad road after spotting police. Barkatha police were alerted immediately, and the vehicle was intercepted near the police station gate.”On searching the car, police recovered 65 packets of ganja weighing 39.5 kg, hidden inside the vehicle. The seized contraband is estimated to be worth around Rs 4 lakh in the market. Vimal added, “The consignment was being transported from Sambalpur in Odisha to Uttar Pradesh.”The arrested traffickers have been identified as Suraj Singh (26), a resident of Amethi (UP), from whom an Aadhaar card, PAN card, driving licence, and multiple ATM cards were seized. The second one is Ramkaran Verma (55), a resident of Pratapgarh (UP), from whom a mobile phone was recovered.
