Seraikela-Kharsawan Police Arrest 14 in Major Motorbike Theft Bust

Seraikela-Kharsawan police have successfully dismantled two motorbike-lifting gangs, leading to the arrest of fourteen individuals, including four minors. A special vehicle-checking operation resulted in the recovery of seventeen stolen bikes and a pick-up van. The arrested individuals have been processed, with adults sent to jail and minors placed in a remand home.

Jamshedpur: The Seraikela-Kharsawan police have busted two motorbike-lifting gangs and arrested 14 members, including four minors. Besides, the police also recovered 17 stolen bikes and a pick-up van from them.Disclosing the details on Friday, SP Mukesh Kumar Lunayat informed that a special vehicle-checking drive was conducted in the district on Thursday, which was headed by the SDPOs of Seraikela and Chandil. During the random vehicle checks at Tata-Kandra main road in the Adityapur police station limits, the police caught two persons, identified as Sujit Das alias Mota Das (33) and Lav Manjhi (26), both residents of Kovali, on the outskirts of Jamshedpur, riding a bike without a number plate.The SP said, “During the questioning, the duo revealed that they were part of the gang which steals bikes.”On further revelation from the duo, police recovered seven more bikes and a pick-up van from different places and further arrested six other members of the gang.Similarly, during the special checking drive at another place, police caught two persons, namely Amit Kumbhakar (21) and Uday Samad (19), and four minors with two stolen bikes from Gopidih under the Kuchai police station limits on Thursday.
Amit and Uday are residents of the Toklo police station limits in West Singhbhum.Based on the information they provided, police recovered seven more motorcycles from different locations within the Toklo police station limits. “We have forwarded the 10 bike thieves to jail and sent the four minors to a remand home,” the SP added.
