Israel attacks Iran
As a result of the ongoing protest, there will be an educational strike in the entire state on December 18, with schools and colleges remaining closed. On December 19, a massive protest will be organized in front of the Assembly to draw attention to the cause.
Surendra Jha, a protestor and teacher at Sarvodaya High School, Dhurwa said, “We believe the grants are crucial for our livelihood and the quality of education in the state. The current salaries are not enough to sustain a decent standard of living and that we deserve the same benefits and status as government employees.”
Raghunath Singh, another protestor and teacher, said, “The teachers and non-teaching staff are determined to continue their fight until the demands are met. We request the government to take action in support of the education sector. The situation is quickly escalating, and we want to see how the government will respond to the growing unrest among the educators.”
Meanwhile, a letter addressed to education secretary K Ravi Kumar has been written which sheds light on the prolonged delay in implementing a proposed quadrupling of grants for teachers and non-teaching staff in the state's degree colleges, intermediate colleges, high schools, Sanskrit schools and madrassa schools.
Now, online transfer for non-teaching staff in govt schools
The state government in Gurgaon has decided to launch an online transfer drive for non-teaching staff, following a similar initiative for teachers last year. In the first phase, the drive will focus on non-teaching staff in the National Cadet Corp (NCC) and libraries. Last year's online transfer drive for teachers caused chaos, but this year it was more regulated with many teachers getting postings at one of their top 10 choices. The government has asked colleges, NCC battalions, and government-run libraries to submit details and service verification of their non-teaching staff by December 18.
