Daltonganj: A 25-year-old man from Odisha was arrested by a team of Palamu police from his sister’s home for allegedly raping a woman migrant worker from the district in a southern state last year. The accused is a resident of Bolangir district of Odisha, the police said. The accused was booked under of BNS and the IT Act. He was placed in judicial custody on Thursday.Addressing the media here on Thursday, Hussainabad subdivisional police officer (SDPO) S Mohammad Yakub said the woman met the accused, also a migrant worker, while working in a southern state. Besides raping the survivor, the accused had also blackmailed her by threatening to make her private photos public. “The woman returned home in Palamu last year while his tormentor chose a new workplace in Telangana. He however kept her blackmailing and intimidating her by threatening to make her private photos viral,” he said.A special investigation team (SIT) was constituted after the woman lodged a complaint with her local police station on December 9 last year.
