Nilamber Pitamber University convocation ceremony scheduled for October 3, 2023

Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) is set to hold its convocation ceremony on October 3, as confirmed by the Raj Bhavan. Around 1,100 students are expected to receive their degrees, and 77 chancellor's and vice-chancellor's gold medals will be awarded. The university is planning to hold the event at the Daltonganj stadium, with new infrastructure also being inaugurated.

Daltonganj: The Raj Bhavan has finally given Oct 3 as the date for the convocation ceremony of Nilamber Pitamber University (NPU) here.Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, NPU vice-chancellor Dinesh Kumar Singh said, “We got Raj Bhavan’s intimation about the convocation date on Thursday evening.”Around 1,100 students from graduate, postgraduate, vocational and professional courses are expected to get their degree certificates on the occasion. The university has cancelled all leaves of the staff from Sept 3 till the end of convocation. Notably, Dussehra festival ends on Oct 2.“Teachers and non-teaching staff will get earned leave for this period. We understand some may not be happy about the termination of leaves, but it’s an extraordinary time,” the VC said.Meanwhile, the Raj Bhavan has directed the university to avoid any extravagance to minimise the cost of conducting the convocation.On the occasion, 77 chancellor’s gold medals and an equal number of vice-chancellor’s gold medals will be distributed. However, there is still uncertainty about the venue for the convocation. The university is eyeing to hold it at the Daltonganj stadium, which is mostly defunct.The university’s public relations officer, Vinita Dixit, said, “Our officials will be having a meeting with the road construction department for a metallic road to the venue.”Three institutions of the university — the multi-purpose hall, library, and science block — will also be inaugurated by the governor on the day of the convocation.
