Dhanbad: Giridih DC Umashankar Singh on Wednesday ordered the dissolution of the incumbent village management committee on Wednesday in connection with the midday meal poisoning of around 96 schoolchildren of Chilga Upgraded Middle School of Jamua block. The committee is responsible for monitoring the preparation of midday meals.
Singh also directed the district superintendent of education (DSE) to take "strong legal and departmental action" against those responsible for serving contaminated food to the students. The DSE has also been asked to submit an inquiry report."Though our inquiry is in the initial stage, we have found gross negligence on the part of village committee members. We have directed school authorities and senior villager officials to form a new committee by Thursday. The school's principal, Mahavir Paswan, has also been served a show-cause notice," said DSE Mahmood Alam.
"The education department may suspend the principal," Alam added.
