Ranchi: In a move aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods and empowering women, deputy development commissioner (DDC) Saurabh Kumar Bhuvaniya on Friday launched the Palash Vending Machine and Aajeevika Gramin Expressway scheme under the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society (JSLPS).
The programme was inaugurated with the flagging off of two cargo vehicles that will connect remote areas to markets, ensuring easier transport of products made by women self-help groups (SHGs). Officials said the initiative is expected to create new opportunities for rural women and enhance their income.
The Palash Vending Machine scheme will directly link SHG products such as agricultural produce and locally made goods to consumers, providing both fresh supplies to urban markets and a steady earning channel for rural producers. The Gramin Expressway plan, meanwhile, focuses on strengthening last-mile connectivity, particularly for women groups engaged in livelihood activities.
