RANCHI: Police on Monday registered an FIR against four named persons and around one-and-half-dozen unnamed others in connection with the mob attack in Suwari Jaltanda village under Karra police station area of
On Sunday, three persons were beaten up by a mob at Suwari Jaltanda village for alleged cow slaughter. Police had rescued all three victims and took two of them to Rims for treatment. However, one of the victims, Kalantus Barla, died on the way.
SP (rural) Ashutosh Shekhar said, “A medical board has carried out the autopsy of the deceased in the presence of a magistrate. The case has been registered under Sections 147, 148, 341, 323, 325, 307 and 302 of IPC”
Meanwhile, a strong contingent of the police force was posted in Karra area on Monday after a section of the local population staged protest against detention of people in connection with the mob violence. On Sunday, DIG
Sources said some people forced closure of shops and markets in Karra to protest the detention, claiming that the suspects were innocent. The crow also gathered at the Karra police station, demanding release of the accused persons. Police, however, claimed that the closures were temporary and added that normalcy returned in the area within two hours.
