Father Killed by Son with Spade in Latehar District
Daltonganj: A 61-year-old man was killed by his son with a spade at a village in Latehar district in the intervening hours of Wednesday and Thursday. The deceased Raj Kumar Singh was a resident of Baree village under Manika police station limits and had retired as a driver. The accused Chandan Kumar Singh, in mid-twenties, killed his father over a minor tiff and fled after the incident.
Prabhat Kumar Das, the officer-in-charge of Manika police station, said, “Police have seized the murder weapon and also recovered blood-soaked bed sheet on which the deceased was laid dead. There were some heated arguments between the two over a minor issue, we learnt, which turned violent."
He added that the postmortem examination was conducted at Latehar Sadar Hospital. Police said the family members would likely register an FIR after Raj’s cremation while a search for Chandan is underway.
