An assistant engineer of the central PWD department lodged an FIR with the Hazaribag mufassil police station against some suspected members of Jharkhand Prastuti Committee, who were threatening to kill him if 6% of the cost of the construction work was not paid to them as levy.

HAZARIBAG: An assistant engineer of the central PWD department lodged an FIR with the Hazaribag mufassil police station against some suspected members of Jharkhand Prastuti Committee (JPC), who were threatening to kill him if 6% of the cost of the construction work was not paid to them as levy.
The PWD engineer is in-charge of the construction work for roads and buildings on the campus of Border Security Force (BSF) at Meru, around 12 km from here.

The victim sought action against the caller as well as protection for himself. Arvind Kumar Sinha, officer in charge of the Hazaribag mufassil police station said: "We are trying to catch the caller by tracking the call details of the engineer's phone." He, however, said it is yet to be ascertained whether the caller belonged to JPC or was a member of a criminal gang operating in the area. "We have already provided security to the engineer," he added.
