Deadline for RTE quota admissions in Ranchi's private schools extended by 1 week
Ranchi: The application window for seeking admission to private schools in the state capital and across Ranchi district under the Right to Education (RTE) Act of 2009 was extended by one more week on Saturday.
“Acting on requests made by the parents of students from economically weaker sections (EWS) seeking additional time to complete the application process, Ranchi deputy commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed that the window be extended till March 22,” a statement issued by the district administration said.
Notably, 25% of seats in entry-level classes of recognised private schools are reserved for students from EWS categories (families with annual incomes less than Rs 72,000) and students with disabilities. The month-long application window for the 2026-27 academic calendar had opened on Feb 16.
Officials said parents of eligible children can apply through the online portal rteranchi.in.
So far, around 900 applications have been received for the 1,161 seats reserved under the RTE quota for the 2026–27 academic session in private schools across Ranchi district. The first list of qualified students is expected to be published at the end of this month. Admission is likely to be held in the first week of April.
Authorities have advised eligible parents to complete the application process before the new deadline and ensure that required documents, including income certificate, residence proof and birth certificate, are uploaded while submitting the form.
For any technical difficulties or assistance during the application process, parents can contact the helpline numbers 9304240308 (WhatsApp only) or 8757221429.
Officials said the initiative aims to promote inclusive education and improve access to quality schooling for children from economically weaker and disadvantaged backgrounds.
