Chatra: A cyclist identified as Dhiraj Kumar Yadav (26) of Harshnathpur village was killed after he was hit by a a speeding vehicle amid dense fog in Simaria block of Chatra district on Tuesday. He was returning to his home from Piri village. According to witnesses, thick fog enveloped the area around Sheela police picket, making it difficult for commuters to see the road clearly.
During this time, a fast-moving vehicle rammed into the cyclist with great force, killing him on the spot. The driver fled the scene soon after the incident.
On receiving information, Sheela police rushed to the spot, and initiated an investigation. Picket OC Harishchandra Tirwar said, “Further probe is on to trace the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run.” tnn
