During his visit, Varma also held a review meeting with senior officials of BSL at Bokaro Niwas. The minister was briefed through a detailed presentation on BSL’s production achievements, ongoing and proposed projects, medical services, material management and other major activities.
It is to be mentioned that the proposed expansion of BSL aligns with India’s push for self-reliance in steel production and is in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving 300 MTPA steel capacity by 2030. The project is expected to involve significant capital investment and the adoption of advanced technologies, giving a boost to the steel sector.
The expansion is also projected to generate substantial employment opportunities in the region, including around 2,500 permanent jobs and nearly 10,000 indirect jobs. Additionally, the project is expected to attract an investment of about Rs 25,000 crore to Jharkhand, contributing significantly to the state’s economic and industrial growth.
