Bokaro picks five tourist hotspots for major infrastructure push
Bokaro: The Bokaro district administration has announced an ambitious tourism makeover plan, identifying five key destinations for priority infrastructure upgrades, stronger safety arrangements and modern visitor facilities to boost footfall and jobs.
The first-phase list includes Luguburu Ghantabari Dhoramgarh, Tenughat Dam, Garga Dam, Bhairav Sthan in Chandankiyari and Chechka Dham. The initiative will focus on improved infrastructure, strengthened safety measures and enhanced visitor amenities, alongside aggressive social media promotion aimed at placing the district firmly on Jharkhand’s tourism map.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the District Tourism Promotion Council’s governing body at the Collectorate, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha. Chandankiyari MLA Umakant Rajak, Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar and other officials attended.
Reviewing the district’s tourism prospects, Jha called for phased development of key attractions and instructed departments to ensure adequate facilities at all identified sites. He said visitor convenience and safety must remain the top priority, in keeping with the spirit of “Atithi Devo Bhava“.
The administration will also roll out an extensive promotional campaign to highlight Bokaro’s historical, cultural and religious significance through social media and other communication platforms. Officials said the added visibility is expected to attract more visitors and help establish Bokaro as a prominent tourism destination in Jharkhand.
“To improve accessibility and visitor experience, we have also decided to install adequate signage and information boards at tourist locations. The meeting also focused on strengthening security arrangements to ensure a safe environment for tourists,” Jha said.
The Deputy Commissioner directed concerned departments to prepare detailed development plans for each of the five sites and present them before the council. Officials said the drive is expected to generate local employment, stimulate economic activity and support long-term growth while showcasing Bokaro’s natural, cultural and religious heritage.
