3 motorbike thieves arrested, 12 stolen two-wheelers recovered
Bokaro: Three members of a gang stealing two-wheelers were arrested with 12 stolen vehicles on Saturday, police said on Sunday.One member of the gang, however, managed to escape.According to SP Bokaro, Harvinder Singh, amid rising incidents of motorbike thefts, a special raiding team was formed under the leadership of SDPO Bermo-Tenughat with the assistance of Gomia, Kathara, and Bokaro Thermal police. "The arrested accused have been identified as Aman Ali (24), Mohammad Intaf alias Fuchan Rai (29), and Mohammad Kalam Rai (22). During interrogation, they confessed to stealing motorcycles, hiding them near a river, and planning to sell them. They also revealed the name of another associate, Ashiq Rai alias Bado Babu, who managed to flee," the SP said.On their information, police recovered 12 stolen motorcycles from bushes near the Damodar river at Beda Tand along the Tenughat road. Most of the bikes had no registration plates, and several had tampered engine and chassis numbers.The accused have a history of criminal activities, the police said. "Aman Ali was earlier booked in multiple theft cases in Ranchi. Mohammad Intaf was named in forgery cases in Gomia, while Mohammad Kalam faced charges in several theft, assault, and harassment cases in Bokaro and Mahuatand police stations. "Police said search is on to nab the absconding accused," the SP said.
