‘India’s The Big Boy, Not Schoolkid’: US Journalist Slams Trump Tariffs; Calls It ‘Disrespectful'

American journalist Rick Sanchez slammed former U.S. President Donald Trump’s move to impose 25% tariffs on India’s crude oil trade, calling it a “disrespectful and ignorant policy.” In an ANI interview, Sanchez said the U.S. treats India like a “schoolchild,” ignoring its global stature. He praised India’s firm stance and described its autonomy in oil sourcing as a “cataclysmic, transformational moment.” Sanchez criticised U.S. policy on secondary tariffs as “extremely preposterous” and accused Trump of acting out of personal grudges and lacking scientific reasoning. He also suggested that Trump may have been offended by PM Modi not crediting him for easing India-Pakistan tensions, calling such behavior consistent with Trump’s pattern of decision-making.
