Three persons drown in farm pond in Morbi district

Rajkot: Three persons lost their lives after drowning in a pond at a farm near Juna Sadulka village in Morbi district on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased have been identified as Hatha Ratadia (28) and his 11-year-old nephew, Jaydev Ratadia, both residents of Laxminagar, and 31-year-old Karu Vahera of Dharmapur.

According to preliminary police investigation, the incident occurred when a group of four herders had gone to graze sheep and goats in the area. Three of them reportedly entered the farm pond to wash their hands and feet and bathe, but accidentally ventured into deeper water and began drowning.

Local residents and a fire brigade team rushed to the spot after being alerted. After several hours of search and rescue operations, the bodies of all three victims were recovered from the pond.
