Pregnant woman’s body dumped in well, lover held in Kutch

Rajkot: An 18-year-old pregnant woman was allegedly murdered and her body dumped in a well in a village of Anjar taluka in Kutch district. Police recovered the body on Friday morning, a day after she was reported missing.The deceased was identified as Radha Sathvara, a resident of Chandiya village. Her father, Gopal Sathvara, had lodged a missing complaint with the Anjar police on Thursday.Police said they received information early on Friday that led them to suspect the involvement of Rajesh Rabari, a cattle herder from a neighbouring village with whom the woman was in a relationship. Initially, investigators believed that the two may have eloped."Rabari was traced and brought to the police station for questioning. During interrogation, he admitted that he had been in a relationship with the victim for the past one year and that she had become pregnant," said Ajaysinh Gohil, police inspector.According to police, the woman was pressuring Rabari to marry her and had allegedly threatened to file a complaint if he refused. Rabari was unwilling to marry her and allegedly discussed the matter with his friend Rahul Rabari. Police said the two then conspired to kill her.Police further said that as part of the plan, Rajesh allegedly sent a message to the victim on Instagram on Feb 17, asking her to elope with him. She was instructed to meet him at a designated location around 11pm, with the assurance that his friend would be present to help them. Trusting his words, the woman reached the spot. Police alleged that when the three reached near a well, Rajesh pushed her and suffocated her to death. The accused and his friend later allegedly tied the body to a cement stone and dumped it into the well.
