Raipur: State-run Pt. Ravishankar Shukla University (PRSU), Raipur, in collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bhilai Innovation Foundation, organised a national seminar on the "Protection of Indigenous Knowledge of Medicinal Plants Used by Tribal Healers."
The seminar aimed to preserve traditional medicinal plant knowledge, raise awareness among the youth about its importance, and promote sustainable farming practices.
The event featured Professor PRSU vice chancellor Sachchidanand Shukla and state forest research and training institute director B Anand Babu.
The keynote speaker, Nirmal Awasthi, director of traditional knowledge and vanaushadhi development, joined traditional healers and other experts to emphasise the conservation of medicinal plants, the documentation of traditional knowledge, and employment opportunities in this field.
Traditional healers and experts were given a tour of the university's Biotechnology, Chemistry, and Pharmacy laboratories. Around 150 participants, including professors, research scholars, and both postgraduate and undergraduate students from various departments, enthusiastically attended the seminar. Dr. Nagendra Kumar Chandravanshi proposed the vote of thanks.
