Raipur: A simmering personal dispute turned into a brutal attack in Chhattisgarh's Bilaspur district, leaving an elderly woman dead and seven members of her family critically injured, with police arresting one man and taking his two minor sons into custody.The incident was reported from a village near Ratanpur region, where the accused allegedly entered a house armed with sharp weapons and attacked whoever came in front of them. The 65-year-old woman died during the assault, while the injured — including women and young family members — were admitted to CIMS in Bilaspur. Some were stated to be in a serious condition.Police said the violence stemmed from a prolonged dispute between two families linked to suspicion over a personal relationship. Investigators said the accused had been in conflict with the victim's family for some time, and the tension had escalated in recent days.According to survivors, some women from the affected family had approached the local police station a day earlier, seeking intervention after alleged threats. They claimed they were told police would come to the village the next morning. But before that could happen, the attack took place.
In a chilling sequence, the accused allegedly went to the house looking for a particular man. When he was not found, they turned on other family members inside the home. The elderly woman bore the brunt of the assault and died on the spot with here eyes out from the socket. Several others suffered severe injuries in the attack.Soon after the incident, the accused reached the police station, while the injured family members were also brought there in a vehicle and then rushed to hospital, officials said.Senior police officers reached the village after the attack, and additional force was deployed to prevent tension from spreading. Police said the main accused has been arrested, his two minor sons were detained under JJ Act.
