RAIPUR: At least four people were killed in a
road accident on Friday morning in Chhattisgarh’s Kawardha district. The incident occurred in the Kukdoor region when a truck carrying borewell machinery and labourers from Madhya Pradesh lost control and plunged into a 60-foot-deep gorge.
The accident took place near Agrapani Chata, where the speeding vehicle lost balance and fell into the gorge, police said.
Upon receiving information from local residents, police and rescue teams immediately rushed to the scene to initiate rescue operations.
A police official told reporters that so far, four bodies have been recovered from the ravine, while efforts continue to safely extract eight other individuals trapped under the vehicle.
Given the severity of the incident, additional police personnel and ambulances have been deployed to assist.
The injured are being prepared for transfer to nearby hospitals.
Authorities are currently working to confirm the identities of the deceased and ascertain the exact number of passengers in the vehicle.
