RAIPUR: The number of black fungus (mucormycosis) cases have increased in Chhattisgarh. A total of 239 cases have been reported out of which 206 are active cases and 21 patients have been discharged and 12 have died.


As per heath officials, a total 110 patients have undergone surgeries. The majority of 64 patients are reported from Durg district, followed by 31 each from Bilapsur and Raipur and 21 from Raigarh.

Meanwhile, in a silver lining, 2,908 Covid patients were discharged against caseload of 1,356 reported across state on Saturday. The cumulative tally has increased to 9,79,576 and as many as 9,41,489 patients were discharged in past one year.

State’s Covid active tally is 24,895 and current positivity rate is 2.5% and recovery rate is 96% in Chhattisgarh, said health officials.

With 30 deaths on same day, death toll has increased to 13,192. However, no deaths were reported in Raipur district on Saturday, similarly in last week no Covid deaths were reported from Raipur district on Tuesday and Thursday. Raipur administration has directed to perform last rites of Covid deceased in Devendra Nagar Muktidham, Marwari Crematorium and Gokulnagar Dham of Shaheed Chandrashekhar Azad Ward.

As per state health officials, highest number of Covid death of 3,108 were reported from Raipur district in past one year. While least number of 11 covid deaths were reported from Narayanpur districts.

In May month, on an average 61,000 Covid samples were tested across state every day. Hence, in total 1918743 samples were tested last month.

State government received Covishield vaccine to resume vaccination drive for 18 to 44 years of age group, which was halted since June 4th. However, since May 1 as many as 7,96,972 people of 18-44 age group are vaccinated in Chhattisgarh.

“ 1.41 lakh doses of Covid vaccines have been received on Saturday which are being deployed in all districts,” said vaccination officer.
