Bilaspur youth falls to death while filming Instagram reel

Raipur: A 20-year-old youth, who was trying to film an instagram reel with his friends, fell to death from the sun shade of a college building’s window in Bilaspur district of Chhattisgarh on Friday.The incident took place at Government Science College around noon when the deceased, identified as Ashutosh Sao and a first year BSc student, went to the terrace of the college building with his five friends to shoot instagram reels.Sao climbed on top of the sun shade slab above a window. In the video, he is seen jumping on the slab to check how strong it was as he his friends say “It won’t break due to your weight.”. Sao replies, “If I jump from here (to another sun shade), I will not be able to jump back.” His friend is then heard saying, “You will. Come on, I am making a video.” Moments later as he was planning to jump, Sao slipped off and fell 20 feet down in the bushes. His friends rushed down to rescue him, but he had sustained severe injuries and had died on the spot, police said. A case of accidental death has been lodged in the matter. Santosh Singh, superintendent of police Bilaspur, shared a truncated version of the video on social media with an appeal to people to not take such risks. “Today, while making an Instagram Reels video with friends in Bilaspur Science College campus, a young man (in Orange T-shirt) fell down from the balcony, which could not be saved. Investigation is underway into the incident. Vigilance is necessary at all time,” Singh tweeted on Friday.
