Raipur: As many as 296 workers have lost their lives in industrial accidents across the state in the last three years, Chhattisgarh industry minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan informed the state assembly on Wednesday. The state govt has also identified 948 industries as hazardous and 32 ultra-hazardous among 7,324 functional and private factories in Chhattisgarh.
Providing data in response to an unstarred query by BJP MLA Ajay Chandrakar, the minister added that another 248 workers suffered physical injuries during this period.
Units are labelled ultra-hazardous based on the list of chemicals and storage limits defined under the Chhattisgarh Control of Industrial Major Accident Hazards Rules, 1999, the minister said.
Replying to another query regarding relief for
victims, Minister Dewangan confirmed that assistance was provided to the kin of the deceased and to injured workers.
