RAIPUR: Two women Maoists were shot dead during an encounter with security forces in Narayanpur district of Bastar division in Chhattisgarh on Thursday.According to police, the gun battle erupted late Wednesday evening in the dense forests of the Abhujhmarh region, in the region of Kohkameta. The operation involved a joint team from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the Special Task Force (STF), and they headed out on anti-Naxal operation, based on intelligence inputs regarding the presence of senior Maoist cadres from the Marh division.Personnel from the DRG units of both Narayanpur and Kondagaon districts took part in the offensive. During the search operation following the exchange of fire, security forces recovered the bodies of two women insurgents, along with one INSAS rifle and a .315 bore rifle from the encounter site.Police said the operation was still ongoing as of Thursday morning.
