Pune: The Pimpri Chinchwad traffic branch carried out a special enforcement drive against traffic rule violations over the past month, taking action against 62,727 drivers and collecting fines amounting to Rs 6.76 crore.

Vikrant Deshmukh said the drive was launched to curb accidents and ensure compliance with traffic regulations. The enforcement action was carried out across all traffic divisions under the Pimpri Chinchwad police.
During the drive, police booked motorists for offences such as driving without a licence, riding without a helmet, drunk driving, wrong-side driving and operating heavy vehicles during restricted hours. The police also suspended 166 driving licences as part of the enforcement campaign.
